Everything you might want to know about cost, process, travel and delivery.

What does it cost?

$3,500.

50 per cent up front, 50 per cent after submission of the final cut. Changes can be made to the final cut, but the balance must be paid beforehand.

Do you use photos?

Yes — I love using photos.

What is the process?
  • Letter of engagement
  • Background interviews by phone
  • Source the photos
  • Film at your preferred location
  • Editing
  • Feedback from you
  • Editing
  • Feedback from you
  • Final cut
  • Package delivered by email as well as physical mail
How long does the process take?
  • Background interviews: 1 week
  • Filming: 1 day (a 4-hour block)
  • First edit: 2 weeks
  • Further edits: 2 weeks

The process is hastened if you submit your feedback quickly.

Do you travel outside Melbourne?

Yes, I do. I have spent much of my professional life travelling all over Victoria, and I am happy to go to any part of the state, along with a videographer.

Travel beyond 100 kilometres does incur a cost — 88 cents per kilometre beyond the 100-kilometre radius, as ratified by the Australian Tax Office.

How is it filmed?

The videographer shoots while the interviewer asks the questions. Two cameras are used — as well as lighting if necessary.

Can I sit in while the interviews are being done?

I discourage onlookers and a listening gallery. When someone is interviewed in the presence of others, it’s only natural for them to perform for the audience and to tailor their answers for those present.

I would rather the interview be as honest and professional as possible. Let the pleasure emerge during the viewing of the film.

How are files delivered during the editing process?

Via WeTransfer, a file-transfer service.

What is in the final package?
  • 2 interviews: 1 hour each
  • Final cut: 45–60 minutes
  • Photos and videos in digital form
  • By request — a 2-minute trailer
How do I get the final product?

In two ways:

  • Via email — a file containing the final cut
  • Via physical mail — a hard drive containing the two original interviews (1 hour each), the final cut (45–60 minutes), photos and videos, and the trailer if requested
How do I pay?

Electronic transfer. An invoice will be sent via email.
